Sail away

And so to the last card from my 1, 2, 3 swap parcel from Terri.

The pale backing paper is in fact stripey although it doesn't show it here.  I then mat and layered my own image on first plain paper and then another piece of patterned paper.  I add three card candi and a strip of greeting.

Butterfly

This card just uses the other part of the patterned paper used in my previous post.  Isn't it lovely?

It doesn't meet the requirements for my 1, 2, 3 swap for this month but I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this card.  I took a snippet of glitter card and cut the butterfly with my Marianne Creatable die and added a toning greeting strip down the left edge.  So simple but I just love it.

Another 1, 2, 3

I opened my second swap parcel and as usual my mind went blank.  There was a nice selection of plain and patterned papers but how to mix and match them.  The problem was there was one piece of paper that I just wanted to keep, I didn't want to make a card that someone else would receive ....could I frame it, could I make myself something?

In the end I took the 6 x 6 square of patterned paper, picked up my craft knife and cut the paper in two.  I found another piece of patterned to cover the card, mounted the patterned paper on top of that and then added a piece of plain card from my snippets box.  I then added the greeting and some of my card candi.

O Christmas Tree

I had several ideas for Christmas cards this month but this is the one I eventually chose to make.  I must admit the idea didn't translate quite into a design I like.  Back to the drawing board with that embossing folder.

I had had the embossed card around since an Advent swap a couple of Christmases ago and hadn't really thought how to use it.  I used green chalk to highlight the embossing and then cut the card in three and mounted on some red card from my snippets box.  I used some red Stickles to highlight some of the tree and then added a greeting at the bottom.

Knubbelchen

The KAL over on one of the Ravelry groups I belong to was a choice of little knitted rabbit or this Knubbelchen.  In for a penny, in for a pound ....... I had never knitted anything in double pointed needles before so I chose the Knubbelchen as a challenge.

I started off quite well but then it was the body and that was bigger round and so easier, I found.  The more I did the harder I found it when I got down to so few stitches on each of the needles.  Thank heaven I had a buddy to help me along or I fear this doll would never have got finished.

Simply does it

And on to the final card from Pat's parcel.  It is a very simple one, as the title suggests.

I used the blue patterned paper from this swap and then a strip of blue patterned paper from the nautical swap parcel from Pat last year and then a strip of blue card from my snippets box.  I heat embossed the greeting on the strip and added three card candi.

Bunny

This is another card from my 1,2 3, swap parcel from Pat.  I added a strip of patterned paper from my snippets and also the three peel off flowers for embellishents.  All the other items came from the swap parcel.

1, 2, 3 times 2

Time to share another couple of cards I have made from Pat's parcel as pat of our 1, 2, 3 swap parcels.  I nearly called them challenge parcels because it really is proving qute a challenge each month, not just to find items to put in the parcels I am giving but also making cards to the theme.  No-one but myself to blame this time as it was my choice to do 1 plain, 2 patterned, 3 embellishments.

This is a fifty/fifty card.  The ribbon, brads and heart came from my stash and the three papers came from the parcel.  I love putting pink and green together and found this design in an old cardmaking magazine.  I cut the square frame by hand and then wrapped the ribbon round the inside, attached a square of plain pink card behind it and pushed the brads through.  I mounted this all on the patterned paper which i mounted in turn on the base cardstock.  I then attached the gold heart.

And on to another card that I made from the parcel. By this time I had cut and used a lot of the papers and I was turning and turning the remainder papers and then came across this combination.

I have made a card in this style beforeand Pat's papers co-ordinated well.  The only bits I added to it were the pink, brown and green striped ribbon round the cream card and the greeting.

1, 2, 3

It was my choice for our monthly swap parcel theme this month and I chose 1, 2, 3.  One piece of plain, two pieces of patterned and 3 embellishments plus anything else they liked to use.  It has proved to be quite a challenge for them both as they don't tend to use 2 pieces of patterned paper.  Meanwhile I had a ball!!!

I had a lttle bit of trouble with the contents with Pat's parcel until I realised some of the papers/cards were double sided.  Doh, stooopid me!!

The paper on the right was a mix of greens and pink and I twinned that with the green and beige gingham paper.  I hid the join with a scrap of ribbon from ribbon stash.  I then raided my snippets box to find some dark green paper which I cut with a scallop die and also used it behind the greeting.  The topper and the green buttons also came out of Pat's parcel.

Snowdrops

I was putting away a pile of crafty stash the other day and came across these lovely pictures of snowdrops which were cryng out to be made into a card.

I rummaged around in the stash box and found some pale green card and a small piece of green paper that matched the pearlised green base card I decided to use.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the edges on the grren card and added a greeting.
